The Technical University of Cartagena (UPCT) is a public academic institution especialised in training and research activities in the fields of engineering and economics. The formation offer consists of several engineering and economics degrees, among them several engineering studies (graduate, master and doctorate levels) closely related to the environment, such as civil, mining and agricultural engineering. At the UPCT there are several research groups specialised in the evaluation of economic, scientific and technical aspects of hydrologic, hydrogeologic and agricultural ecosystems. The participating researchers of the UPCT have ample research and consulting experience, both within Europe as in other continents, on hydrology, water resources management, analysis of social and economic aspects of water policies and economic valuation of environmental assets. They have also participated in related consultancy studies for several Spanish water and environmental public administrations and private organizations and international organizations.


UPCT will contribute to several WPs mostly in relation with the Spanish DEMO case study. UPCT will contribute to WP2 and WP6 in the assessment of ecosystem services physical valuation in wetlands and groundwater of the Spanish study areas and to WP3, WP4, WP5, WP6 and WP7 in the social, economic and risk assessments in the Spanish demo case study and the development and integration of policy instruments.
